I tripped and fell
Down a rabbit hole
A place between heaven and hell

There I met
Six creatures
Each curiouser and curiouser then the next

The first white and fuzzy
With a pocket watch in his hand
Claiming to be late for a very important date

The next had a temper
That wasn’t very cold
A smoking caterpillar that decided to change

The third a gentleman
A hatter that was mad
Tonight he celebrated his birthday that was not

The fourth a hare
But this one brown
He like his tea and to move down and down

The fifth a cat
The most peculiar of them all
Had a smile like crescent and tricky was he

The final a queen
With her hearts painted red
And her cards cheated for her at her game of croquet

As I lie here
A place between heaven and hell
The creatures pop by to leave little gifts

These gifts are not for sharing
Oh no!
They are not for anyone to see

They are a reminder for me
To watch where you wander
Because you’ll never know who you might encounter.
